Kids Hat With Loops Free Knitting Pattern

To make this easy hat, you will need:
2 balls of
Yarn:
Katia Mexico or Lana Grossa Mega Stoppino or Plymouth Boku
Needles:
16" Circular size 6US and 8US (4mm and 5mm)
Double Pointed size 8US

Gauge: 4 sts=1" on size 8US knitting needles

Size: finished size 19-20" - the hat is will fit 4-8year olds
   
CO 72 sts. on size 6US (4mm) knitting needle, join, being careful not to twist stitches.
Rounds 1-6. Work seed stitch (*K1,P1, repeat from*,reverse on next round).
Switch to Size 8 US (5mm) needles needle and work in stockinette (knit every row) until hat
measures 7"  from cast on edge.
Crown decreases:
Round 1: *k7, k2tog; repeat from*   (64 sts.)
Round 2: (and all even rounds) Knit
Round 3: *k6, k2tog; repeat from*   (56 sts.)
Round 5: *k5, k2tog; repeat from*   (48 sts.)
Round 7: *k4, k2tog; repeat from*   (40 sts.)
Round 9: *k3, k2tog; repeat from*   (32 sts.)
Round 11:*k2, k2tog; repeat from*   (24 sts.)
Round 13:*k1, k2tog; repeat from*   (16 sts.)
Round 14:*k2tog; repeat from*       (8  sts.)
Work 3 seed stitch sts. strips on remaining sts. as follows:
Use size 4US double pointed needles. Work back and forth on 3 sts.
Row 1: K1,p1,k1
Row 2: p1;k1;p1   
Continue to desired length (ours are 2-3" each).
Bind of, leaving a 5" tail (to be used for sewing the loop in)
Repeat for another strip.
3rd strip:
Work on 2 remaining stitches.
Row 1: K1, K into front ana back of the same stitch (3 sts on the needle)
Continue as other 2 strips. Fold the strips into loops and use yarn ends to sew them down, weaving the ends in inside the hat.
